A penny for your thoughts?

So... syempre euphoric ang gabing ito but someone just had to douse the feeling off.  Heard from the grapevine that the RGEP System is being evaluated after producing 12 Summa cum Laudes in 2007, 15 last year and 18 this year (considered the post-implementation graduates, approx. 4-5 years after RGEP was implemented in 2002).  Apparently students are able to go around the system na daw because of RGEP, which enables students to choose classes and profs that give high grades.

While the basis for this assumption holds water, I believe there are other factors that have to be considered.  Sure, you can easily get a one in, say, Geog1 and MS1, but what are the odds that you'd actually get into those classes, right? Factors like that.

  1. but a dollar for your insghts. oh, a fortune for your disaster. haha

ang masasabi ko based from experience, tignan din natin yung kabilang side. may mga profs na nagdadarts lang. had my share of those, unfortunately.

  4. Kasi halimbawa, in the case of CMC this year, where two graduates were Summa cum Laude. Eh these are the people na from the start pa lang, exemplified brilliance and achieved high grades.

  5. I agree. First sem ni Dreo, flat 1.0 GWA niya eh. Whoa.
But that's partly considering na puro GEs din ang kinuha niya.
Combination ng both, I guess. One, you're lucky to get in the right class under the right prof. And of course, it goes without saying na hindi ka rin makakarating sa summa/magna/cum by just being lucky all the way.
May sipag at tiyaga rin yan (forgive the Villar plug

Been having the same thoughts on the increasing number of summas though.

Either way, magaling ang batch na ito. Congrats sa atin, JM!!

With regards sa RGEP system and choosing only the UNOable profs, easier said than done, unless RA ka na mahirap din nman makapasok.

Bottomline: Those criticisms about our batch will stand trial in the real world. We shall see guys... We shall see. Ito na ang tunay na basehan.

    Congrats satin JM. ^_^

  7. All internal factors considered, it's also possible that other schools are catching up, so competition becomes more intense between UP and other schools.
