naunahan mo ko magpost hehe. reading it now. this part just stinks:
From 1978 to 1981, nag-export tayo ng bigas. Hindi tumagal. But let’s not be too hard on ourselves. While we may know how to grow rice well, topography doesn’t always cooperate. Nature did not gift us with a mighty Mekong like Thailand and Vietnam, with their vast and naturally fertile plains. Nature instead put our islands ahead of our neighbours in the path of typhoons from the Pacific. So, we import 10% of the rice we consume.
puke. topography? i'm not an expert, though; i hope someone who knows agriculture and rice production can address this.
Look around. Walang budget sa education. Maraming walang healthcare service, poverty and hunger aren't being addressed to the core! THAT'S the kind of BULL GMA's talking about.
tumaas din ang kilay ko dito. Parang... wala ba tayong enough arable lands?
weirdly enough, compared sa past sonas, this one didnt make me feel as sick. hmmm. ibang level kasi yung kasukahan ko nung nicongratulate nya si palparan dati.
(i wouldve fallen asleep as usual if i wasnt in the media center of batasan covering it. hohoho. stress magcount ng hesitant applauses hahaha)
i'm doing our 196 homework about SONA, and isang common thing na napansin ko is when she looks back to compare statistics, 2001 ang palagi nyang minemention. Eh hello??! Malamang malaki ang talon ng data after 7 years!
At ang ever-repulsing na "The result has been, on the one hand, ito ang nakasalba sa bayan; and, on the other, more unpopularity for myself in the opinion polls." The Dark Knight, ikaw ba yan??!
Mwahehehehehe... =P
hmm, lagi ko kasing naririnig yung sinasabi nyang she is saving the economy at the expense of her popularity. kaya hindi ako nagulat and therefore nasuka. ho. also, i never expected her to support moves to scrap vat. they make too much money off it.
what made me feel queasy was the "making" of the sona. kasi a few days before kung anu-anong program ang nilaunch at kung san san sya pumunta. "kumikilos" lang talaga sya pag kelangan niyang magyabang. kaya siguro di rin ako nagulat sa pinagsasabi nya, kasi i saw it coming.
nawindang din ako sa mga "i care for" at "nag-aalala ako.." parts. the thing that crossed my mind was, "arent you supposed to be evil?" meh. but you know what really affected me? those poor individuals she mentioned--she completely used them, ugh. yung bata nga from antique na nagsave ng family ni-meet lang nya kahapon. e antagal tagal na nya sa pinas since nung bumalik sya from US after ni typhoon frank.
The thing you should consider is that VAT keeps eating up the people's money several times over. For medicine, from the pharmaceutical companies there's a 12% VAT, from the pharmacies there's another 12% VAT; that goes for every other commodity out there. THAT ISN'T RIGHT!
I was waiting for her to underscore--or at least mention--if she met her target planned from last year. Isnt that supposed to be the point of her SONA now? She obviously veered away from this because she failed, so it was more convenient for her to compare back to the 2001.
She should have talked about those in 2002. But hey, its already 2008. New challenges were not meted out for clarity.
Since 2001 was her first term, it was easy to define progress through econometrics because she had a blank slate where she could define development far from how estrada used his.
Back then, she inherited and enjoyed the popularity from the then ousted pro-poor estrada who used nothing of that sort during his stay. The stark difference of their styles played well to her advantage.
Oh, anyway, she talked about Mindanao's problem without mentioning whether it should push through with the Aug11 elections. This elections is the first try of automated voting, the last elections before 2010.
It's not about war that they want to resolve, it's peace by 'placing' the right lapdogs in the south that they want to secure.
Plus, she announced the 0.50 text news without mentioning that it was a promo only until October.
To top this nauseous experience, she tried to be 'motherly' for the 'i-care' clauses and she talked about corruption with a straight face.
i'd have to agree. compared to her past sonas this one seemed more, um, realistic? is that the term? pero syemps may bs pa rin, di naman mawawala yun sa kahit na anong speech ng politician

ReplyDeleteas for the author above, your mind is so biased against GMA kaya lahat na lang ng sinasabi ni GMA, regardless of the content, ay bullshit
ReplyDeleteTsk. tsk.
ReplyDeleteIs bias inherently bad? Or would it only be so when attached to something bad or good, consequently becoming what it is?
I see your bias by pointing out the author's supposed bias.
Bias is seen from where you stand, but demeaning labels are not necessary to drive your point.
it's HIS website, and HIS blog, so. :)
ReplyDeleteright on.
ReplyDeleteyeah as usual :))

"Texting is a way of life. I asked the telecoms to cut the cost of messages between networks. They responded. It is now down to 50 centavos"
ReplyDeletesiguro maraming katext si Ate Glo. =]]

ReplyDeleteoo, may hint of realism. yung ano ba yun, parang ang message nya ay "masama ako! in your face!" ganon. hahaha.
ReplyDeleteahahah yep :)) basta di ko syadu ma-explain, pero mas madaling, um, i-digest ang sona this year.
